Vintage Snowflakes (How - to) Tutorial

Directly from Lori Hairston  blog "I've always loved snowflake ornaments! They look so pretty on the tree. Nicecrane Designs has introduced several vintage sets to create circular pyramid ornaments. I'm going to show you another way to implement the circle images - as the center of snowflakes!"

So stunning Vintage Snowflakes by Lori Hairston

I love that Ignacio has done the hard part for us. I don't like having to figure out what portion of an image will make a nice circle!

To make these pretty glittery snowflake ornaments, I've used Stampin' UpFestive Flurry Snowflake Stamps and Framelits. (You can get a bundle of the Festive Flurry stamps and dies at a 15% savings here.)

Stamp and cut two large snowflakes. Line up the snowflake on a scoring tool (or use a ruler) and score from the top of a long point all the way through the snowflake to the bottom of a long point. Only score the long points - on this snowflake, that is three scores. Ignore that second snowflake - it's not lined up at all!

Then turn the snowflakes over and score the other points. This way you have the mountains and valleys for the accordian fold. Lining up is important - the right snowflake is lined up much better than the left one!

Cut one fold all the way to the middle on both snowflakes and accordian fold.

It will make the snowflake sturdier and smoother looking if you overlap one section to adhere them together.

To finish up, hot glue a loop and circle of paper to the back (also helps with sturdiness). Stack the next size snowflake, a glittered scallop circle, and sweet vintage image from Nicecrane Designs. I used hot glue and pop dots under each layer.

Vintage Christmas Tags (Junkie Style)

You can`t miss these vintage and all over Vintage Christmas Tags by Astrid Maclean,,,,,,,,,They are absolutely gorgeus, First up is my tag no 5 for the 12 tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie style. You can find all the details for this challenge by clicking the link.

This time, my tag is rather different from Linda's original, and as you can see, I have made it into a card again. Thank you Linda, this is just perfect for me to get my CCs done.... Though mine is different in colour, I liked the way Linda had used the corrugated card and I took inspiration from that. You can see her original here. Her tag is much longer, so she could fit much more on, but I also used some lace and a poinsettia flower. The central image is one of the beautiful designs from Nicecrane, Happy Christmas by Bowley DSC, love this vintage black and white image. I cut it with a Spellbinder die. Here are some details still.

I just love the beautiful vintage feel of these images and it seemed perfect for this card, which I further embellished with the little key and wing charms you can see below, altered with some verdigris gilding wax.

The tag challenge is sponsored by the Funkie Junkie Boutique and doesn't close until December 22, so there is still plenty of time to play, even though Linda is up to tag 6 already. While playing with the Nicecrane images I decided to also make a couple of little gift bags, using one of my new Sizzix Tim Holtz dies

I used images from the Vintage Christmas Cards set, mounted them on a Spellbinder die cut and then

So Adorable Christmas Cards

And waht the great work by Jane ? My card today is not a baby card but a vintage style Christmas card with a wonderful nativity image. It is my design team GD card using a wonderful pre-coloured image from Nicecrane Designs It is another image from the Adorable Christmas sheet here. I love these images so much, they really epitomise the Christmas spirit for me.

The backing paper is a digital download which I have embossed with gold embossing powder to give a frosty effect. This is picked up on the gold card too with the embossed holly leaves. The hymn sheet is another download from last year. The holly leaves are Cheery Lynn. I have distressed the edge of the green card to add to the vintage feel and added some Vintage Photo distress ink. Some gold edged red ribbon and red pearl add the finishing touches.

Amazing Dolly Dingle Creations

I really lovew the idea to alter my image sheets to get the best look possible,,,,so you can`t miss the incredible and all over stunning work by Florence. "I hope everyone is well and fighting fit. I mentioned in a previous post that I was going to post some of my Christmas hot picks from Nicecrane Designs. There are so many to choose from so I am going to just jump right in and start off with my first choice Dolly Dingle. This is a revisit to this wonderful sheet of Digi Images from Nicecrane Designs."

The original drawings are by Grace G. (Wiederseim) Drayton.

Rather than adding a sentiment attached to the card I went for a tag style sentiment which is attached by a piece of thick thread.

I slightly altered the colours on this because I wanted a darker shade of red than the original bright red.

This image sheet has so much potential. The tiny little images are exquisite to use individually or use the sheet as a whole as I have done above. Check out the little rabbit – bottom right hand corner!

If you look half way down the sheet (on the first card above) , on the left hand side, you will see Mr. Punch. Just in between the two little red oufits.

I cut Mr. Punch from the image sheet and increased the size of him using PSE (other computer image manipulation software will work), I then printed him out several times, cut the layers out and decoupaged him up using foam tape.

Another idea is that you could convert the colour of Mr. Punch to using a colouriser* to alter the tones. Serpia would look nice for a vintage feel.

* Colourisers: I know a lot of my crafting friends have various image altering software and no longer use them. Y’know the sort used for scrap booking and on disks which have images on them. Well get them back out!! lol! Make these images work for you. Oh, you know me I want every penny’s worth…… and more out of craft products I buy and why not. I think I must have been born tight fisted!! lol!

So Amazing Colored Kittens (by Monika Skinner)

I am falling in love with the gorgeus and sweet coloring by Monika Skinner working with my  Funny Cats by Thiele DSL  Hi Everybody, how time flies, it’s Wednesday again and time for another challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More, Challenge #69 - Addicted to CAS!!!

The winner will receive a $20 gift certificate to spend at their online store. Pop over tothe shop and have a look what fabulous images $20 can buy you …For this week’s DT piece I have used another catty image from our sponsor Nicecrane Designs. It is one from the Funny Cats by Thiele DSL Collection with some really adorable images for some fun cards.  Here it is, my DT piece for this week:
Aren`t these cute kittens adorable ones? (by Monika Skinner)

I just love this adorable joyful image, these cats just seem to want to dance off the page. There is so much movement in this image, one doesn’t need to add anything … and I normally love playing with rounded corners or embossing for CAS cards. This time I felt anything else would detract rather than add.

This is a very quick card, I simple printed the image out, cut it to size, coloured it using my promarkers, stamped my sentiment and mat & layered as shown. Hope that you feel inspired to enter this week’s ’Addicted to CAS’ challenge at ATSM, please pop over and see all the other creations of the fabulous ATSM DT Team. You can also get a freebie to work with by following this link Nicerane Designs Freebie.
