WORKING WITH NEUTRAL TONES

Vicki from Stample Smiles was working with my  "Remember your Childhood DSL" Today, I have something a bit different for you. I absolutely LOVE Vintage style and images, but I just don't have much practice with it. Today, I'm sharing one and perhaps several more as I enjoyed working with this! :)

For my design, I've colored the entire image with my Copic cool grey colors and only colored the doll's dress with red. (You will understand why below.) I added a border with some of that awesome glass glitter from Stampin' Up! which adds a nice Vintage touch. I also stamped a post mark in the bottom corner of the image and added a punched white border on two sides of the image. Then mounted on black stamped with a flourish design and on a white card base with a flourish design. Topped it off with a red ribbon and pearl to offset and draw attention to the red in the image.

MOST WANTED (KITTEN)

Marion loves Kittens, so she asked me to work with my "Adorable Louis Wain Kittens " to create this stunning and funny Photo Frame. "When I first saw these fab images I wanted to make a photo frame with them.

The images are from Nicecrane Designs. They come in a 5 pack:

So, I picked three of the fab images and of course (hand)stichted the sides. Most wanted as tittle seemed so right on those, aren't they the cutest ? I used Tim's alphabet to create the words most wanted.

Butterflie's Cards , Charming Illustrations & Women Paintings

A while ago a lovely man called Ignacio invited me to join his design team, it's taken me a while but after he sent me his beautiful butterfly images I didn't need much persuading and I'm very proud to say I am now part of the team at Nicecrane Designs. He is a talented artist and graphic designer and his images and design sheets are in the main Vintage inspired offering beautifully detailed sheets from flowers to butterflies and Vintage fashion as well as many traditional well loved nursery characters.

I thought I would share one of my first makes with you using the beautiful Tortoiseshell Butterfly..... thumbnail link below.......which I printed out twice to decoupage. The background is Dylusions pure sunshine, squeezed orange postbox red plus a spritz of pearl Glimmer Mist. Onto this I stamped Stampendous P107 and heat embossed with detailed gold which I also added around the edges, then added a piece of recycled corrugated which I embossed with Frantage and also embossed some of that onto the thorax of the butterfly.

I also have another one using Ignacio's Butterfly Twinchies. I have to admit I wasn't too happy with this one, but he saw it on my Pinterest board and asked me to blog it so here it is. The main butterfly has been printed and decoupaged with three layers, they do lend themselves to this so well, then a smaller one for the base of the easel card. I used the Timmy butterfly border for the top edge and shaded with Pan Pastels, did a little stamping behind the main image and finally printed a couple more butterflies on a small print template, so altogether there are four different ones on this card all from the same image sheet.

Dreamy Blues

Nonni was working with my cute sheet "Charming Children illustrations" to create the following cute and all over adorable Baby Card....Hiya! Time for Addicted to Stamps and More! We are continuing our August challenges with a twist,

Baby Card by Nonni (abslutely adorable, my friend)

I  chose alternative nr 2 and used this cute vintage girl from the Charming Children Illustrations by Nicecrane Designs. I did not want to use designer paper for a change and did my own background by embossing an Impression Obsession background stamp with clear powder and spraying the background with blue Stardust mist. It turned out beautiful! I tried to keep my design simple and let the background be seen so all the other elements are in the center of the card. The little flowers are punched with a Fiskars punch -I like them, they look a bit like starfish to me!

And what about these Charming Cards by Nonni ?

 

I'm sure you'll agree that these cards have never seen CAS! I made these fun and colorful vintage cards with my mum when she was visiting a couple of weeks ago. We used Charming Children Illustration from Nicecrane. Mum helped me punching squares out of scrap papers and we formed them into two cards -mum's is the first and mine is the second. I must say I like mum's colors better, well done mum! :) It's a fun and cheerful card and I helped only with choosing embellishments. I was very happy that mum liked our little crafting session and loved the cards so much that she sent them to friends right away.

Burlap with gold... LOVE this burlap with gold accent circles that I got at JoAnn's. I saw it right as I went in the door and made a beeline for it. (With Dennis trailing behind, of course! He's so sweet to go wherever I want to.)

She's just one of the beauties in the Women Paintings III set:

This bag was super easy to make. 

Decide on size of bag.

Add 1/2 inch to width and double the length and add 2 inches.

(Example: this bag is 5" x 6 1/2", so I cut a rectangle of burlap 5 1/2" x 15 inches.)

Fold in half with right sides together. Sew a 1/4" seam on

each side.

Turn right side out. 

Turn top to inside 1" and glue. (You could sew, but Aileene's glue worked great!)

Sew ribbon handles in at seam.

So fun to give with a thoughtful gift inside and don't forget to visit Nicecrane Designs to pick out a pretty image to make it extra special!

DO YOU LIKE JAPÀNESE STYLE?

Mimi from Crafty Animals was working with my "Dolls from Japan Save Pack" and she did these incredible Asian Cards,,,so elegant and at time so colorful,,,,,,,I am falling in lovwe with this personal style.

For this card I cut the card shape with my die cutter on plain blue card then sprayed with my Promarkers (a mixture of blues and mauves). I did modify the cut file as the digi was hidden behind the front bar, so that was cut away. Next I squirted on some Shimmer Mist in blue and purple. I only wanted a textured background, nothing to fussy as this would distract from the card shape and digi but just adding the sprayed colour was not quite enough, it looked flat. Light bulb moment - skeleton leaves. I sprayed the skeleton leaves with the same ProMarker colours I used for the background (and the Japanese Lady) and stuck them along the top of the card. Next I printed the digi twice so I could separate the lady from her parasol allowing me to create two layers, which once coloured, were reassembled with foam tape for dimension. The two layer digi was then attached to the card with a double thickness of foam tape to give a further 3D effect to this card. Out with my compressor again and the ProMarker air brush attachment to colour the flowers, again using the same colours as the background. I cut the sentiment out of vinyl and stuck on the card - the sentiment is the Kanji symbol for Love. My every trusted gold paint pen was used for the gold accents.

But that is not all............She was also working in this another one:

A very simple monochromatic CAS card, For this card I very simple coloured the digi in a light aqua colour, leaving the black of the digi to do the talking so so speak. The digi was mounted on a background using the same colour and this in turn was mounted on the backing paper which is a gradient for the same colour to white. Thank you text was added and again the same aqua blue was used. For contrast black lace was added to the digi mount and, my favourite, a few pearls - I just love pearls

But Monika did also these stunning cards according to the Photo- Inspiration and using red colors,,,,,,and all over working with my "Fascinating Bessie Gutmann Set"

The first one is from the Fascinating Bessie Gutmann Set …

As you can see the image has lots of detail on it, hence I went for a grey CAS background. I pasted the image file into a Word document re-sized it and lightened the grey scale a bit before printing. I ten coloured the girls dress in red using Sepctrum Noir Markers and added some light grey touches to other bits of the image using a cool grey1 Promarker Pen before blending the edges with red and assembling the card as shown.

This image is printed in the original colour. I then added some soft colour touches to the girl’s dress and hair, the daisies, the butterfly, the grasses and the water using pale hues of Spectrum Noir Markers. I then stamped the swirl and sentiment on so saffron designer paper (SU) and blended the edges with soft suede ink (SU) before matting and layering as shown.

I used the little character in the bottom right hand corner for my card. These are such good fun to use.

Funny enough, I wanted some quirky style characters just to use now and again and when I looked at some rubber stamps, the one that I wanted was always out of stock and I couldn’t find any others that I liked. These are perfect for what I wanted. As for the cost of digi stamps compared to rubber stamps….no brainer really.

One thing I do want to share. If you print a draft copy of these onto copier paper, attach them to masking tape and cut them out OR indeed spray the back of the copy with the special non-permanent glue (you know the one – is it stick away or something like that) these can be so versatile for journalling, cards or scrapbooking.

I know the Brownies are really popular. Nicecrane Designs have just released some more Brownie images. Ignacio, if you are calling in, I want these ones!! he he!

Now you hardened Brownie fans will probably colour these in the traditional colours but you really do not have to. If you are new to these images they suit any style or colour that you wish. That is what I love about them.
