STUNNING KEWPIE AIRPLANE

Welcome on board Kirsten............

I must tell you now Kirsten Hyde is now a Gest Designer in my Team, and  I asked her to create something special with my Kewpie sheet,,,,,,,,so here is her stunnign work: Some time ago, I found images from Nicecrane designs - and I thought these were gorgeous. I was thrilled when I was asked to be on the design team, as a guest designer. This is my first guest design contribution.

Some time ago, I looked into making a 3D plane from paper. I found that this had been done a few times before - so I left it for some time. In my search for ideas, I found several simple toilet role planes. I was was also inspired by the colours and the simplicity of theGentleman crafter's Christmas plane, made out of two boxes.

This plane is made of old papers and recycled materials, and it was quite simple to build. The body of the plane is made from a toilet roll. I have added the tail, which is made from packaging cardboard. The wings are made from the same material as the tail. The wings are glued and stapled to the toilet roll.

Inside the plane, I have put one of the Valentine Kewpies a digital stamp/ image from Nicecrane designs. This Kewpie has been printed out twice - and one of the images has been mirrored. I coloured the Kewpie with Prismacolors, cut out the images and glued them back to back.

Take a look to the original Kewpie image
And now,,,, the stunning airplane by Kirsten Hyde

I used an old gear from a clock as the propeller. The wheels are two old soda corks with a round plastic resin inside. As the base of the pennant, I used an old spring from an old clock.

The paper on the body of the plane is from G45 - Transatlantic collection. The paper on the wings and tale is from Basic, Grey: Hello Luscious - Zesty. The gold paper is from Søstrene Grene.

The Kewpies were first printed over 100 years ago, in 1909, and was popular as characters in different magazines, as paper dolls and as dolls. For a period now, vintage images and figures has been popular again. Nicecrane designs has several set of Kewpies images, but these are the newest ones.

Maple leaves
Are you a Jessie Willcox Fan?,,,,,,if so,,,,you ´d love this amazing collection,,,,,byt this illustrator,,,,. I asked  to Sally Holmes to work with my "Incredible Jessie  Willcox" and here is adorable card. Woww woww,,, such inspirational one,,,,,,,,,,enjoy it.

Vintage Jessie Willcox Card by Sally Holmes
Here is another of those beautiful Nicecrane images from the Incredible Jessie Willcox collection. I loved the blue dress contrasting with the autumn leaves and so layered the image on snippets of copper and blue papers and mounted on a card base. This had been dusted and stamped with the Inkylicious maple leaves in Kaleidacolor Autumn leaves ink. The sentiment is from Inky Doodles. I am off to Miss Di's snippet playground with this one. Hope it is a bit drier than it is here - might need a hot toddy to keep me going! Steve went out to fill the bird feeders in time for this weekend's big garden Birdwatch, and it was rain that hurt! Great big spots that were cold and blown at you with force!
I also needed another thank you card for a male, so I used the larger of the maple leaf stamps and Kaleidacolor Creole Spice.

The Sentiment is from Chocolate Baroque and fit perfectly in the stripe where I put the masking tape. This ended up less clean and simple than I'd intended - another 'save' where my fingertips had left their little smudges! I do love this ink pad!

Enjoy some previoius works by Sally with this collection:

I have made another card using the incredible Jessie Wilcox images from Nicecrane. I love them because they are such delightful images of children reading and take me back to my childhood. I had an Andy Pandy fancy dress outfit very much like the one this child is wearing (but blue and white)!

The gorgeous set of Jessie Wilcox images appealed to me instantly as it seems so rare to see images of children reading these days! It took me back to the days of Janet and John reading books! I added some snippets of paper from some magazines and stamped the main background papers with Vintage flowers (Inkylicious) in Tea Dye DI.

Tea Light Cards and Other Creations

CREATE YOUR OWN  TEA LIGHT CARD
Toni at my Dt did this absolutely Vintage and  Colorful Tea Light Card,,,,with my gorgeus "Romantic Valentine Collection", I am falling in lovw with this kind of cards and gift at time,,,so directly from her blog:Whilst catching up on my blog reading over the weekend, I came across this clever idea over on the 'Polkadoodles and Studio 12' blog. As soon as I saw it I knew it would be a perfect way to use one of Ignacio's lovely images from the "Romantic Valentine I" set...

So the idea that I adapted from  Polkadoodles  Site a card that is more than a card...

...it is a gift as well...( A Tea Light Box)

Tea Light Box (Detail)

...the base card is folded to create a box down the leading edge of the card which holds four tea-lights - held in place with some pretty ribbon.I made my card out of red CS and then covered the inside, the top of the box and the front panel with some PP that came free with a magazine...

Sooo stunning Teal Light Card by Toni, wow, woww

...the chosen image was attached at a slight angle and embellished with some roses and a couple of foil hearts...

...as I said, a card that is more than a card. It really is very easy to make and would be great for various occasions.
