BRINGING TO LIFE THE FAMOUS
BROWNIES BY PALMER COX

The Brownies is a series of publications by Canadian illustrator and author Palmer Cox, based on names and elements from Celtic mythology and traditional highland Scottish stories told to Cox by his grandmother. Illustrations with verse aimed at children, The Brownies was published in magazines and books during the late 19th century and early 20th century. The Brownie characters became famous in their day, and at the peak of their popularity were a pioneering name brand within merchandising.

Hi there!
School started here last week, but the excitement of sending them out the door still reverberated through the house, so when Ignacio asked me if I'd like to use some precious images from his Brownies At School sheet...I couldn't wait.

Here's the entire set together that include a faux school book and 3 tags that fit inside the book.

Below left is a closeup of the Explore tag as they study the map. To the right you'll see the entire sheet that is available at Nicecrane Designs titled The Brownies at School.

Danielle was pariticpating in my sposored challenge,,,working with the same sheet :Hello again dear friends and followers! Time for another challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More! (ATS&M) - CAS #59. Our challenge this week is once again sponsored by the wonderful and generous owner of Nicecrane Designs. We are continuing our August Challenges with a Twist so that means if you choose to use a Nicecrane Designs image then you can make any style card (or project) you wish (it doesn't have to be CAS). I chose to stick with CAS and use one of the newest digital images from the set called Reading Children (thanks so much Ignacio) - take a look:

Isn't she just so sweet? I was immediately drawn to this image because as a girl I always had my nose in a book (still do when I'm not crafting) and my own sweet daughter is the same way (LOVE that!). One of my favorite books was Little Women, and I loved all the Nancy Drew mysteries. Now I love the Janet Evanovich series that starts with "One for the Money" (I have ready every one of them so far) and books by Mary Higgins Clark - oh and of course some romance novels when I'm in the mood :o). Lately though my nose is usually under the People magazine that has fallen on my face (to muffle my snoring) as I've tried to read in bed.
